Episode 60
This week Michaela Carlin is joined by Robert Forte for a deep dive into the history of the psychedelic movement, the controversial nature of conspiracy theories, and the escalating conflicts in global politics. Forte, a pioneer in the psychedelic movement, shares insights on the historic and modern uses of psychedelics, stories about key figures like Timothy Leary, Aldous Huxley, and "Sasha" Shulgin, and expresses concerns about corporate interests encroaching on the 'psychedelic renaissance.'
A key point raised is the power of psychedelics in fostering individual discernment and the potential dangers during their post-intake suggestibility period. With respect to current world events, the conversation highlights the increasing commercialization of psychedelics and their possible role in empowering a societal transformation amidst the mounting global tensions and ongoing political crisis.
Robert Forte has traveled the psychedelic path over the past 45 years, an adventure in consciousness that has taken him to very far and deeply personal realms. He has been a student, a researcher, a producer and a distributor of forbidden drugs, taught at university and graduate level. Robert has done field work in South America and had close personal relationships with many of the most significant instigators of the various psychedelic movements of our time. He considers that it is time we cultivate discernment of these several movements and to move the beneficent properties and effects of these drugs to the fore, while we separate ourselves from those who exploit them for deceptive or nefarious agendas.
